Airshows

Sun Jul 26, 2009, 5:45 AM
EDIT:
So one week on from RIAT and its my local airshow, the Sunderland International Air Show.
Wasn't sure if I would attend, but the weather on Saturday was very promising and it seemed like a good chance to get some photos of aircraft I was filming at Fairford.
Turned out to be quite a good call in my opinion, so sorry for another upload splurge.
Dispite a mishap where I forgot my 2gb card, I still had my backup 512mb one, so it wasn't a total loss.

You can download a 6 minute summary video I took here

showing clips from various displays.
Sorry about the music, the sound quality wasn't too good and there were annoying children a little too close at moments.

---==---

So yeah, sorry for that massive upload splurge to my couple of watchers.
Especially those with an aviation interest measured in negatives.
When you go to an airshow where the flying display lasts from 10am to 5:30pm, you're going to end up with a fair few photos. 182 actually, so maybe the 70 or so uploaded isn't so bad.
And depending on the weather, I might just revisit the Sunderland airshow on Saturday, eep.

Many many many thanks to :iconkoshizu: for very kindly offering me a what became a spare ticket when her original partner in crime was unable to make it, I've always wanted to go to a proper airshow, on an airbase, at least once and now I have. Certainly worth the extreme commuting involved. :)

Next year... Farnborough! Hahah.

I've seen your Halo images. Didya know they're releasing an official Halo encyclopedia on November 19th? Supposed to have over 300 pages of stuff; maybe we'll get to see what all the other ship classes look like, as well as get some official measurements (all we have for that so far are the UNSC Frigate, Destroyer, & Cruisers, and the Covenant Battlecruiser & Assault Carrier). Also: in Halo Wars cutscenes, the Covenant Destroyer was shown (one had a fender-bender with the Spirit of Fire). Can you get profile pics of a destroyer?

So a guy walks into a bar and says "Ow..."

Hi there
Yup, I've had the Halo Encyclopaedia ordered for months now, and I hope you're right in terms of how much detail is in it.
Sadly I can't really do anything about the Covenant Destroyer, or the Spirit of Fire for that matter.
We can't explore around Halo Wars the way we can other Halo games, and also the Destroyer only made a few appearances in pre-rendered CGI cutscenes. Videos basically, so its impossible to look around them from different angles etc.

Nice work from Fairford, you were obviously there on the Saturday (I see blue skies) Where were you standing. Next time everyone on DA should wear some DA stuff. Be interesting to see how many go. Thanks for all the :+fav:s btw.
:icontroopakoopa:
Many thanks, though none of it was a patch on your work, lol.
We were behind the left most grandstand on Saturday, near the KC-10.
The "Sea King - 4" pic shows it best.
Sunday was intended, but a bus schedule change on that day made it unworkable, and it turned out the weather was better Saturday anyway. The entrance tickets were valid for either day, but sadly the grandstand tickets were Sunday only.
We still had a nice spot though. A lot of people left after the Vulcan had been on and we moved forward to see the Frecce Tricolori.

Thanks very much but to confess, I make my shots look good when I get home, I photoshop the shit out of them. When I was there I must have looked the part, I had two cameras and a couple of sort of large lenses. Anyway this guy just started asking me questions about K mode and bringing colours out and white balance and stuff and I never had a clue, almost like he was calling my bluff. I looked like a right dickhead. Anyway, until next year, cause that's my airshow season over, take care.

I came all the way to your page to talk about a walnut gear knob hahahah - thought we could get a taxi back, you know, make a saving!
